The last time I set foot in the stadium I was delighted to see Gary Neville lift aloft the Premier League trophy in front of an ecstatic crowd; it would be the first of three consecutive titles and the start of a very successful, if brief, era of dominance. Unfortunately, I’d miss out on all that as season ticket prices began to spiral out of control under the Glazers with the addition of the opt-in cup scheme.

Needless to say, I jumped at the opportunity to be among the Manchester faithful once again, even if only for one algid night that saw us pitted against European minnow.

Whether it’s the architectural symmetry of the place, or the fond memories I have of it, I was again delighted just to be there.

Given the lackluster football that was on show, I thankfully made sure I’d remember it by capitalising on our advantageous viewpoint by taking the above photograph. It’s not perfect and it’s probably not the best photograph of Old Trafford you’ll ever see, but the last batch of photo’s I had taken had a resolution so painfully small that you had to squint to make out that it was indeed the Theatre of Dreams.
