WordPress inaugurated 2011 with a challenge. The blogging platform set a task to its users to continually update their blogs with daily posts, no matter how small or inconsequential. Unsurprisingly, I didn’t even hear of this challenge until I was revived from post-Christmas pleasantries a couple of days into the New Year.

But despite missing out on what will perhaps be a mind-numbing blog-a-thon, I have vowed in some unofficial New-Year-resolution-style-way to right more. That vow, however, isn’t coming to fill a void. In fact, relearning basic French has also inexplicably managed to find its way onto my meandering agenda, along with reading Tolstoy’s epic War And Peace and several other list-worthy haemorrhages.

Nevertheless, I feel I’ve done okay. 7 Wonders in 7 Days has, naturally, been my main focus. Fortunately, I have been helped immensely in that respect by some of the touching stories, tweets, blogs and even videos submitted to us from our community. If ever you’re struggling for inspiration in whatever walk of life you lead, consulting the people involved with 7 Wonders in 7 Days maybe a good place to start. HTC's Desire. Bayified.

Even though my brain has given me the full ability to reason, debate and analyse, I still find myself very often succumbing to some irrational urge to buy shiney new gizmos and general stuff of ‘want’.

What starts off as a rational internal debate around expensive purchases eventually gives way to a Michael Bay film. Explosions start, incomprehensible dialogue takes place and I begin clawing at my own eyes. Eventually, I feel like a 40-a-day smoker that has been on the mend for the last few months being dragged to Cuba by Benson & Hodges’ muscle men. ‘Want’ inevitably takes over. Read more →
